Our Instructors

Pastor Dan Greenfield grew up in Alto, Michigan. He earned a B.S. in Bible and Pastoral Studies in 1993 from Pillsbury Bible College and an M.Div. in 2000 from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as pastor of Orwell Bible Church* in Orwell, Ohio, since early 2005. Pastor Greenfield is nearing completion of his Th.M. degree (also from DBTS).

Pastor Larry Hobbes is a native of Pennsylvania. After finishing his M.Div. from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA, he pastored First Baptist Church in Castle Creek, NY for seventeen years. He later served on a church staff in northern Indiana and later planted Berean Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN. Pastor Hobbes is currently planting Maple Hills Church in Geauga County. He also serves as assistant director of ARCH Ministries. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Pastor Kent Hobi grew up in Mentor, graduated from Mentor Christian School, and received his BS in Education in 1992. After teaching for five years, the Lord led him to Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received his Master of Divinity in 2001. Pastor Hobi has served as an assistant pastor at Grace Church of Mentor since 2001. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Pastor Hobi also served as the director of Great Lakes Bible Institute.

Dr. Joel Huffstutler grew up in northern Illinois and trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord as a child. He earned a BS in Business Education in 1995 and an MS in Biblical Counseling in 1997. He and his wife Abby served as short-term missionaries to North Queensland, Australia in 1997. Recognizing the Lord’s call to the Gospel ministry later in 1997, he went to Bob Jones Seminary and Graduate School of Religion. During his seminary years he also served at Gospel Fellowship Association Missions as an administrative assistant, taught Sr. High Bible at Bob Jones Academy, and pastored Calvary Baptist Church in Landrum, South Carolina. He completed his Ph.D. in Theology in 2008. His dissertation is titled “He Who Dwelt in the Bush: A Biblical and Historical Theology of the Angel of the LORD.”

Pastor Todd Nye is the pastor of Southwest Community Baptist Church in Parma, Ohio (a southern suburb of Cleveland). He received his BA in Bible with a minor in Greek in 1993 and went on to receive his Masters in Bible in 1999. During this time, he also pastored for two-and-one-half years and had served as deacon, elder, adult Sunday School teacher, and director of soul-winning/visitation ministry. A native of southern Cleveland, Pastor Nye has been the pastor of SCBC since May 1999. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathy, and their three daughters.

Pastor Tim Potter was reared in a Christian home. He came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was 8 years old and was called of the Lord to preach the Gospel in later high school. Pastor Tim earned a B.S. in Theology in 1990 and an M.A. in 1991. Pastor Tim has served at Grace Church of Mentor since August of 1991, ministering as youth pastor and associate pastor for the first fourteen years. He became senior pastor  in January of 2006. Pastor Tim completed his M.Div. from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary in 2005.

Pastor Dave Saxton is the pastor of Falls Berean Bible Church* in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Pastor Saxton graduated with a B.A. in Bible in 1997 and an M.Div. from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary in 2001. Pastor Saxton is pursuing a Th.M with an emphasis on the Puritans.

Pastor Joe Tyrpak is the assistant pastor of Tri-County Bible Church* in Madison, Ohio.  Pastor Tyrpak completed a B.S. in Graphic Design/Greek in May of 2000. In May 2004 he received an M.A. in Bible, and he completed a Master of Divinity in 2005. During his seminary years he designed textbooks and taught design at Bob Jones Academy. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree in Applied Theology.
